Syracuse

February 3 2012 · Jessica Pike

In January, our bridal specialist Sammy Perry worked with clients Hope and Sam creating flowers for their big day. The ceremony was held at St Mark’s Church in Fitzroy. The heritage building built entirely of bluestone is an architectural masterpiece, and called for floral that complimented its early English Gothic style.

The vision for the flowers was wild and unstructured. An eclectic mix of flowers, flowering and fruiting branches, foliages, and berries kept the look a bit mismatched and gave it movement.A colour palette of rich of plum and red, with contrasting touches of soft cream and apricot.

Large stone urns of fruiting branches were created as centerpieces, while smaller clusters of branches bound with white fabric lined the church pews.

The bridal bouquet featured garden and David Austen roses in rich plums, dusky reds and contrasting creams. Snowberry was used for interest, which also featured in the grooms buttonhole.

For the reception held at Syracuse, bottles and bud vases were filled with simple stems in the same colour palette. Dahlias, garden roses, snap dragons, raspberries and snowberry, with fruiting branches and smoke bush used for height.
