The Dome - Mural Hall
February 8 2012 · Jessica Pike
Over the weekend Sammy Perry, our bridal specialist provided floral styling for a larger than life wedding for clients Nicole and Brad.
The ceremony was held at Collin’s Streets ‘The Dome’, a heritage landmark built in 1890. In Jewish weddings, the couple is married under a chuppah (Hebrew for ‘canopy’ or ‘covering’) which signifies the home that the couple will build together.
Sammy and the Vasette team adorned the legs of the chuppah with asparagus ferns, doddervine and white blooms. Simple cylinder vases holding pillar candles and rose petals lined the aisle, while the bridal bouquet was simple and elegant, a mass of white David Austen roses.
Mural Hall is a venue we love to work in. An exceptional canvas, with its lemon yellow walls, art deco light fixtures, grand staircase, and of course those murals! We have been fortunate enough to work in the space on a few occasions, giving us the opportunity to explore its floral possibilities.
For Nicole and Brad’s wedding, the hall was lined with tables to accommodate a sit down dinner. Each of the guest’s tables featured wreath style floral arrangements, and trees were man (or florist!) made, using re enforced steel trucks, oasis balls and foliage.
An eclectic mix of dahlias, cymbidiums, roses and hydrangea were used in burgundies, creams, apricots and chocolate browns. Mini apples and pomegranates were used in the table centres, while the bridal table featured mini terrarium arrangements of cymbidium orchids.
