Our Oscars nomination for Best Flowers in a Feature Film continues:
Citizen Kane
“Rosebud”
This iconic movie begins with reporters trying to decipher the meaning of the final word uttered by dying newspaper mogul Charles Kane. “Rosebud”
Looking back at his life via a series of flashbacks, we see his successes and failures and are left to ponder the question about exactly whatit is that makes a life successful. Riches? Power? Something simpler? Rosebud perhaps?
This ambiguity made this a breakaway film in an era when the good cowboys wore white hats and the baddies were always in black.
No spoilers here, if you haven’t seen Citizen Kane, you’ll have to find out about this particular variety of Rosebud yourself.
